I listen almost every day to find out how the Giants have done in their most recent game. The problem when you pledge your allegiance to a baseball team you have to be willing to stick with them through the thick and thin. You have to be willing to suffer the losses with them as well as celebrate the victories. This is a bit like joining a church. When you join a church, by official membership or through an informal commitment, you have to be willing to hold the hands of those who hurt as well as celebrate with those who are experiencing joy.
I would much rather celebrate with others in joy than walk with those who are suffering, but that is not how life works nor how one lives out one's allegiance. It is painful at times, but the good times are so wonderful they overshadow the more difficult times. Perhaps being a baseball fan is a good training ground for being a member of a community of believers. I believe God has brought us here to be a part of this community. I don't know if you are part of our community or not, but if you are looking for a place where people will be there for you, this is the place. No matter if it is celebrating the great times or walking with you during the times of trial this is a great place to be. Join us, as we seek to build the kingdom between Sundays.
