Good News

So what is the "Good News" we have from Jesus? So often we are told Jesus brought "Good News" to the Jewish people. They were looking for a Messiah. They were looking for someone to right all the wrongs and set up their kingdom. That was the "Good News" they hoped to receive.

So what is the "Good News" for us, those of us who aren't Jewish? I realized this last weekend that for me the "Good News" is that I can live life to the fullest (John 10:10b). That means though bad things will happen in my life, though I did not have perfect parents bringing me up, and though I still will make wrong choices, none of those things will keep me from the grace of God. I do not have to let those things chain me to the present, nor even the future. Through Jesus Christ I am set free to become who I have the potential to be. I do not have to always carry all the baggage that I have been given, or have chosen, with me.

I believe the ministry at John Knox Presbyterian Church can help people be set free. We aren't the only ones that have the "Good News" but we are certainly committed to do the best we can to help others experience their life abundantly. Bad things will happen in life. We will lose loved ones. Accidents will happen. Financial struggles will occur, but we don't have to live in the morass of stuff that comes along to everyone at some time in their life. We have a Savior, and not just for eternal life, but for the present and the future.

Celebrating with all of God's redeemed creation,
