I got really excited yesterday. I have found as I have gotten older it is the little things in my life that tend to bring the most excitement and thanksgiving. Yesterday both Joan and I got sunglasses. You see this summer we both lost our sunglasses and we have lamented all summer about the necessity to squint or be unable to see clearly in bright sunlight.
We both have very odd shaped lenses, in fact Joan has "rimless" glasses, at least that is what they are called, so we can't just go out and buy new sunglasses to fit our frames. We haven't gotten prescription sunglasses because that seems like a little too much money to spend right now. So we talked to a local optometrist and because of the shape of our glasses found out it woud cost beau coup bucks and we would have to be without our glasses for a week. The California Department of Motor Vehicles would frown on that, at least if we were stopped by someone in law enforcement.
So finally I called our eye glass provider from Iowa and they were able to find our records and found sunglassess that would fit our current frames. They can be hard to find, for when they called the distributor about Joan's "rimless" frames the supplier only had one left.
The people in Iowa said it would take a while maybe 7 to 10 days. Well Monday, less than a week later, in the mail, were our sunglasses. I was so excited I put them on right away and wore them all day.
We really don't know what blessings we have until they are missing or lost. I am so thankful for those sunglassses that I put them on it is with a grateful heart. Is there something you have been blessed with recently? Did you thank our Heavenly Provider? Why don't you take the time right now and say a little pray of thanks. You see I think God wants to know we don't take our blessings for granted and God likes us to say "thank you" for all things we receive, be they big or small.
Enjoy the blessings of God with a grateful heart,
Pastor Randy
