I saw him for the first time in the Mall tonight. I wasn't surprised when I saw him, but certainly didn't expect it. Is it any different than Christmas? Yes, I think it is. Since I was in the Mall it seemed understandable. If he was in a parade I might think differently. The Mall is a place where the consumer dictates his presence. Still it seemed kind of strange to seeing kids getting their picture taken with him. Maybe because the legend of Santa Claus stems from a real live person, St. Nicholas, it doesn't seem as strange, but I am not sure I would want my kid to have a picture of him sitting on the lap of the Easter Bunny.
Hunting eggs is fun. Handing out baskets of goodies seems a part of the tradition.
But what do you think? Why not having a picture of kids sitting on the lap of Jesus? Now that would seem more in line with our faith tradition. That would seem more in line with what I read in the Bible. That would seem to be something that would promote what we believe to be the true tradition surrounding Easter.
Anyway, I hope to see you at our 9:00 or 11:00 am service on April 4th.
Peace to you and yours,
Pastor Randy
